Where I get my best thinking done

Halfway down the stairs"(written by A.A. Milne, sung by Robin on The Muppet Show)

Halfway down the stairs is a stair where I sit.
There isn't any other stair quite like it.
I'm not at the bottom, I'm not at the top.
So this is the stair where I always stop.
Halfway up the stairs isn't up and isn't down.
It isn't in the nursery, it isn't in the town.
And all sorts of funny thoughts run round my head.
It isn't really anywhere, it's somewhere else instead.
Halfway down the stairs is a stair where I sit.
There isn't any other stair quite like it.
I'm not at the bottom, I'm not at the top.
So this is the stair where I always stop.

For me this poem is a sweet childhood memory in song. While searching for the melody on the internet I came across this blog.

It's good to know that I share this memory with others.

Halfway up the stairs is a place where I live.

For me too Wendy. My dad used to read it to us from a small brown book full of childrens poetry. Wish I still had that book.
Thanks for the memory Wendy and Swedishgrammy
